Description
Cecil Holmes is a professional outdoor and nature photographer based in Huntsville, Alabama. Self‑taught and guided by time in the field, Cecil’s work emphasizes patience, presence, and storytelling through stillness rather than a focus on awards or trends.
What began as a way to better photograph his son’s football games evolved into a passion for documenting wildlife and wild places. Cecil spends much of his time traveling in pursuit of light, weather, and fleeting moments that reveal the quiet stories of the natural world.
His images have appeared in publications including Nature Photographer, Outdoor Photographer, Shutterbug, and various regional outlets. Cecil lives in Huntsville with his wife and four boys, whose support and inspiration remain at the heart of his work.
Cecil will present 4 separate programs discussing the following topics:
- Earth & Flow: Where Landscapes and Waterfalls Come to Life
-
Call of the Wild: Photographing Animals in Their World

In Flight and at Rest: The Beauty of Birds in Motion and Stillness
